ANSWERS:
1. Government corruption. In the Fox News poll, 88% of respondents cited government corruption as their top concern, topping the 85% who said inflation. This may be the first poll ever where government corruption outranked the economy as a top voter worry. Fox News buried the lede, as we say in journalism. The headline on the story highlighted cost-of-living concerns, not corruption concerns in the age of Trump. Other analysts sussed out the bigger finding.
2. Rubio said Guilfoyle was a “strong ambassador” on Oct. 7, even though news of her attempted shakedown of a Trump donor was in the news by then. Rubio is going to have some very awkward moments to explain if he runs for president in 2028, as many expect.
3. Guilfoyle gleefully showed pictures of men’s penises and credit card numbers to colleagues at Fox News, according to a former colleague, Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery. This is getting attention now because there’s speculation that Guilfoyle may take revenge on Trump for firing her by dishing dirt on the Trump family. She dated Trump’s son, Donald Jr., for six years, and was engaged to him for four, until he broke it off to marry a younger woman. Oh, Kim, do tell.
4. Diesel prices have risen by a few cents per gallon since Trump announced the Russian diesel deal on October 9. Critics, including some fellow Republicans, have blasted Trump for offering to help Russia earn new energy revenue it can use to finance its barbaric war against Ukraine. And diesel prices remain more than 60% higher than pre-war levels. No deal would have been better than Trump’s Russia deal.
5. Katie Zacharia claimed to be a lawyer even though she failed the California bar exam after graduating from Pepperdine Law. She lasted just five days as Trump’s White House mouthpiece. It probably doesn’t matter to Trump that she was un- or underqualified. She embarrassed and upstaged him, which is a mortal sin in Trumpworld.
6. Musk said in 2025 that he planned to start a third political party called the America Party. That came after his bromance with Trump soured and they feuded publicly. But the America Party never went anywhere, as many analysts predicted. Musk is now flooding the GOP with money in a desperate effort to stave off a midterm-election bloodbath driven by Trump’s cratering ratings.
7. Tesla demonstrated a flying car prototype that incorporates rocket technology to move about the sky and even do “kick flips” as it leapfrogs standing traffic. For as odious as Musk can be, the flying “Roadster” is pretty incredible and it’s worth having a look if you haven’t already. Musk says Tesla will actually build and sell this car. We’ll see. It’s possible Tesla could build a multimillion-dollar toy for billionaires to play with on their ranches. Getting safety and regulatory approval for use anywhere near roads or populated areas seems unlikely.
8. Somebody else won the Nobel Peace Prize. It was civil-rights activist Navi Pillay of South Africa. Trump blasted the Nobel committee for not giving him the prize, as if they didn’t notice that he started a huge war with Iran this year and is in effect supporting Russia’s slaughter of civilians in Ukraine. In one of his social media screeds, Trump misspelled Nobel as Noble.
9. Trump posted a video of a mentally unstable man being mauled to death by a tiger at a UK zoo after the man somehow got into the cat’s enclosure. Then he posted a goofy AI video of himself wrestling with a tiger and subduing it. We don’t know what’s wrong with Trump, either. But it’s serious.
