I agree Kang stuck 2 words together in "Subaru" and "socialist" for no apparent reason other than marketing his article. As a Marketing guy, I am ok with it in that it worked ... I read it! But he never really explained the Subaru part of the the thesis. Somewhat of a random connection to socialism. Subaru is just getting over the lesbian branding, now they are socialist too! Setting the Subaru thing aside, I thought Kang's articles had an interesting perspective on where the Bernie momentum came from and where the democratic socialist trend is headed and why. Although, its interesting to think that it may be an expectations thing of a liberal arts degree vs an economic structural problem. My 3 kids chose engineering, finance and marketing. They are doing very well. All 3 drive better cars than my 2015 Subaru with 130k miles with a kayak on the top and 2 bikes on the back. Can I be a "Subaru progressive" please. Not sure I like the capitalist label much better than socialist in current climate.
I'm not sure Subaru minds the lesbian connotations. They corner an important market without ever spending a dollar marketing to it! Another guy - a guy - commenting on this story by email says he's a Subaru owner and people still call him a lesbian. 😁

Subaru capitalist here. Our “new” Outback is a 2023. Inch get to drive it occasionally. Exce$$ money allocated for a nearly yearly National Parks trip and backstopping the cost off college for a thrift-store addicted Mechanical Engineering student and a recent Nuke E grad waiting for budgeting to loosen before he’s brought on. He’s frugal too
It’s experiences and not stuff for us. That we save to spend.
However, the tilt of the financial world that is shifted too far has to start accounting for the imbalance
I’m a capitalist who believes that some socialist stuff is needed before the cracks become unrepairable fissures … healthcare, education (seems like decent K-12 learning is being monetized to the detriment of all) etc need to be made more affordable
Am i correct Rick you are a Subaru owner?I have been for 10 year's and, we love our car because, we never have had a problem with the car.The mileage is great and,we just have 78 thousand miles on it right now.I had a Buick Lucerne before i bought the Subaru and, when we first got it i thought we were going to use the lemon law.I just turned eighty years in August and, have thought about buying another Subaru but, this one is just amazing..The thirty and forty year old's need to understand that nobody promises you anything unless they think they can get something back. Especially in politics. Get the vote and, then forget that promise.I admire you and, the one thing i know is perseverance and,empathy are good way's to start.Love the Good and, Hate the Evil.
